Flight Sim Adventure Part 1

Happy hump day everybody. Yesterday I spent my free time flight simming again. I decided to do a little adventuring around the midwest. First I took a flight from Champaign to Waukegan (because two of my roommates are from Waukegan).

KCMI (Unitversity of Illinois-Willard Airport):

to KUGN (Waukegan Regional Airport):

What a great flight! 144.2 nautical miles, it took me around an hour and a half because the ATC in flight sim likes to take you around your destination airport by far too much, so I think I'll stop using the in game ATC because the vectoring for approaches is horrible... unless that's what it is like in real life.

Weather in Champaign was great, flurries and a solid overcast sky. Flying far enough north though through the cloud deck and I punched out into blue sky with a few scattered clouds the rest of the way to Waukegan just in time for a sunset landing.

Next time I'll take some in game pictures for those intereseted. Next flight I think will be from Waukegan to the Milwaukee area and then onward to Door County.

Dangerous STD spread unnoticed in 2004

The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta has issued a warning about a new,
virulent strain of STD. The disease is contracted through dangerous, high
risk behavior. The disease is called Gonorrhoea Lectim and pronounced "
gonna re-elect him. " Many victims contracted it in 2004 after having been
screwed for the past four years. Cognitive characteristics of infected
individuals include: Anti-social personality disorders, delusions of
grandeur with messianic overtones, extreme cognitive disonance, inability to
process new information, pronounced xenophobia and paranoia, inability to
accept responsibility for own actions, cowardice masked by misplaced
bravado, uncontrolled facial smirking, ignorance of geography and history,
tendencies towards evangelical theocracy, categorical all or nothing
behavior.

Naturalists and epidemiologists are amazed at how this destructive disease
originated only a few years ago from a bush found in Texas

The Joys of Flight Sim

I didn't want to make a serious political analysis post, so I decided to post about flight sim.

I spent about thirty minutes flying around in the Piper Cub over Door County Wisconsin. It was pure joy. The weather was great, the sun was just starting to set, and flying the cub was just fun. Sure, its a simulator, but its the closest I can get to actually flying an aircraft. Here's some pictures from my flight. If you're a simmer, lemme know :)

Woops...

Uhhhh yea, so I sort of forgot about my blog. Does that make sense? I've been busy with school, girlfriend, part time job, family, friends, relaxing, hockey, etc. etc. Not to mention trying to keep myself informed on what's going on around the world and staying up to date on the problems in this country as well.

Quick update though on my life, I'm graduating in two weeks (thank God, I need to end this school stuff). Still looking for a real job as I wasn't expecting to be graduating this semester. Trying to get onto a local radio station as well, did the training for that. Just spent the weekend with my girlfriend and worked both the hockey games.

I'll have a more serious update as soon as I have some serious time to put into this. Until then, anybody still reading this... well thanks =)

Is it time to raise taxes? Repeal tax cuts?

I found this brilliant article by Fahreed Zakaria.

The GOP should be called the "Grand ol' Spending Party".

Man, this country is going to shit if we don't do something soon.

Iraq was easier than Germany

Yes folks, that's the new defense for the Iraq war. It was far easier than winning the war against Hitler. I was discussing on a message board about how horrible the recent violence in Iraq has been (222 dead in the last three days). The first response from this guy was, and I quote...

"Sometimes I think you sit at home, watch for bad news on Iraq, and beat off."

So I respond...

"Is that all you have to say about this atrocity?"

Response...

"Yes. It is a war, people die. Sorry, Iraq still went down at a MUCH lower cost than Germany."

I'm at a loss of words for that one. I called him out on it and haven't gotten a response. I guess this is the new excuse for justification of the war in Iraq.

Ditch Holocaust Memorial Day?

Muslim groups in Britain are urging Tony Blair are urging him to get rid of the Holocaust Memorial day and replace it with a Genocide Memorial Day to honor the genocide of "Palestinians, Chechnians, and Bosnians" as well.

Now, I don't know enough to comment on the Chechnya or Bosnia crisis. So I won't.

However, I will never agree to calling the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians genocide. Genocide is:

"
The systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group."

Now unless I'm missing something, the Israelis have done no such thing with the Palestinians. To denounce the current struggle as "Israel is being genocidal" or "Israel is commiting genocide against the Palestinians" is wrong. Not only is this one sided (ignores the over thousand dead Israelis), it simply is incorrect.

Is it anti-semitism? No. Its just ignorant. However, when groups try and get rid of the Holocaust Memorial day in Britain under the premise that the Israelis are commiting against the Palestinians is anti-semitism.

"But Tzvika, I'm not criticizing Jews, this isn't a religious issue. Israel is a nation, not a religion." Well, Israel is the homeland for the Jews and is a Jewish country. There is nothing wrong with criticism of Israel, but one sided criticism, while trying to increase denial of the holocaust, now that in my eyes is Anti-Semitism.

A List of FEMA Failures

So how did FEMA screw up?

- FEMA won't accept Amtrak's help in evacuations
- FEMA turns away experienced firefighters
- FEMA turns back Wal-Mart supply trucks
- FEMA prevents Coast Guard from delivering diesel fuel
- FEMA won't let Red Cross deliver food
- FEMA bars morticians from entering New Orleans
- FEMA blocks 500-boat citizen flotilla from delivering aid
- FEMA fails to utilize Navy ship with 600-bed hospital on board
- FEMA to Chicago: Send just one truck
- FEMA turns away generators
- FEMA: "First Responders Urged Not To Respond"

I wish I was making this shit up. This is downright criminal. Michael "Brownie" needs to be fired if not sent to jail for this criminal act.

Rove Not Alone in Leak

Well it appears that Rove wasn't alone in the leak.

Reporter Says Cheney Aide Was Source

By PETE YOST, Associated Press Writer 20 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - The vice presidents chief of staff , Lewis Libby, was a source along with the president's chief political advisor for a Time story that identified a CIA officer, the magazine reporter said Sunday, further countering White House claims that neither aide was involved in the leak.

***

Why am I not surprised? Another person close to the administration and it happens to be the vice president's cheif of staff! So we have both the president's chief political advisor and the vice president's chief of staff involved in this leak.

They should both be fired if not tried in court. Ridiculous

Yum! Catfish

Tonight I had fried catfish, guacamole, scalloped potatos, and fresh cherries for desert. It was delicious! My friend had some catfish and he came over and we fried it up. The guacamole was good, I put some corn in it which is one of my favorite ways to eat guacamole. Add a little hot sauce to the fish, and it was delish! "The fish was delish, and it made quite a dish."

Har har har

Funny Picture =P

Is Karl Rove the Devil?

Sometimes I wonder...

Here is a man who outed a cover CIA operative, and still has his job. Why did he do it? Probably personal revenge. She had evidence that went against Bush's claim that Sadaam Hussein was trying to import "nucular" materials from Africa.

What does this say about the thugs running our government? A lot.

My theory is this. Judith Miller of the New York Times is going to jail for not revealing her source. I believe that its possible that her source was none other than George Bush himself. This would explain the sudden deafening silence from White House press secretarty Scott Mclellan, a complete reversal from what he was saying earlier. Rove could have Bush by the balls and tell him, "If you fire me, if you out me, I'll take you with me." Considering the special relationship that Rove and Bush have (Bush's nickname for Rove is Turd Blossom... no joke), I think its entirely possible.

Hearts And Minds; A Draft From A US Marine Officer

This is a very interesting article. Its very long but very informative. It deals with how we should be fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and how our armed forces should be reorganized on every level. It took me about 45 minutes to read it, but I was well worth it.

Top 5 Rock And Roll Songs

What would my top five rock and roll songs of all time be? In no particular order:

- "Hotel California" - The Eagles
- "Hey Jude" - The Beatles
- "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen
- "Jailhouse Rock" - Elvis Presley
- "Sympathy for the Devil" - Rolling Stones

That wasn't easy.

Wow, my first blog

Well, this is my first blog. Its 1:50 a.m., I was browsing friend's blogs and decided its time to make my own. Perhaps it was the voices in my head told me it was time, but either way the time has come. I don't know how often I will post, but we'll see if I have enough interest to keep this up. Time for bed
